Key Objectives (6 – 12 Months)

1. Develop a Unified Data Strategy:

Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to formulate a comprehensive and cohesive data strategy aligned with our business objectives. This strategy should support growth, innovation, and be measurable through key performance indicators (KPIs).

2. Enhance Data Quality and Reliability:

Establish robust data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes within the first six months to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data for business intelligence and analytics.

3. Implement Innovative Data Engineering Solutions:

Continuously evaluate and adopt cutting-edge tools and technologies to maintain our competitive advantage. Aim to implement at least two innovative data engineering solutions within the first year.

4. Support Data-Driven Decision-Making:

Collaborate with teams to develop advanced analytics and machine learning models for data-driven decision-making. This support should culminate in at least one data-driven decision-making project within the first year.

5. Project Management Excellence:

Lead and manage data engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company objectives. Strive to complete 80% of assigned data engineering projects on time and within budget within the first year.


The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Experience:

  • Significant experience in big data development, including mentoring and leading junior developers.

  • Programming Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in either Python or PySpark programming languages.

  • Data Expertise:

  • Demonstrable expertise in SQL and data modeling concepts.

  • Communication:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with analytical and engineering teams.
  • BI Applications:

  • Strong capability to analyze user requirements and build front-end business intelligence applications.

  • Database Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of relational database structures and practices.

  • Project Management:

  • Experience with project management and full development life cycle.

  • Data Privacy:

  • Familiarity with applicable data privacy practices and laws.

  • Cloud and Data Platforms:

  • Knowledge of cloud-based applications, datastores, databases, data warehouses, and data management platforms, such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, MS SQL Server, Azure Synapse, DataBricks, Analysis Services, Power BI, etc.

  • Salary: £70,000 – £80,000
