Position Overview

The National Events and Volunteer Program Manager (NEVM) holds the responsibility for overseeing the operation, expansion, and strategic direction of Upwardly Global’s events and volunteer program. This program offers corporate volunteer events and one-on-one engagements with volunteers/mentors to Upwardly Global program participants, aiming to enhance their networks, industry insights, confidence, and job search skills.

Leading the events and volunteer team, the NEVM collaborates cross-functionally to ensure that event and volunteer services align with organizational goals and cater to the needs of both job seekers and volunteers. Additionally, this role focuses on enhancing efficiencies through technology implementation, program delivery operations, and monitoring & evaluation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Program Management & Delivery:

  • Lead strategic planning and goal setting for the program in collaboration with the events and volunteer team and internal stakeholders.
  • Advocate internally for the events and volunteer program, ensuring that leadership and other stakeholders are informed about program initiatives.
  • Provide operational oversight, including budget management, performance tracking, and maintaining project management systems.
  • Implement pilot initiatives leveraging technology and automation to support organization scale and growth.
  • Develop a comprehensive learning agenda and evaluation plan, facilitating data and feedback collection and analysis.
  • Address program delivery challenges, client/job seeker pain points, and inefficiencies collaboratively with the team.
  • Ensure timely delivery and reporting of event and volunteer program deliverables related to grants.

People & Team Management:

  • Coach and guide the National Events Lead and National Volunteer Lead to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Cultivate a trusting work environment that fosters innovation, accountability, and empowerment.
  • Lead the team towards successful program delivery, meeting organizational and grant goals.
  • Establish structures and processes for transparent communication and collaboration across teams.

Relationship Management:

  • Lead partnership development and negotiation with corporate partners delivering employee engagement events and volunteerism initiatives.
  • Evaluate new inquiries from corporate partners to assess potential benefits for the program and job seekers.
  • Liaise with development to provide input on funding opportunities, proposal development, and reporting.
  • Oversee high-profile volunteers in coordination with the National Volunteer Lead to ensure an impactful experience.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Five plus years of program management experience, ideally in volunteer management, workforce development, or immigrant integration.
  • Two plus years of experience managing direct reports with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, preferably experienced with database systems like Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail and project management abilities.
  • Experience working with corporations or corporate partners preferred.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to support program implementation.
  • Knowledge of grants and funded programs management.
  • Understanding of workforce training, human resources, or career development programs preferred.
  • Ability to work cross-culturally in a diverse environment.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Travel required locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Availability for evening events and occasional weekend sessions.
  • Reliable transportation may be necessary depending on the region.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The listed salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and performance. This range is only one component of Upwardly Global’s total compensation package, which includes benefits such as paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement plans.

Salary Range Transparency

  • Central Region: $80,000 – $90,000 USD per year
  • Western/Eastern Region: $95,000 – $105,000 USD per year
